Review highlights 2008 achievments

At the end of February, members of the Council Executive Board met with representatives of the Northeast Region, BSA for the annual review of the Council's charter. That review highlighted the strengths of our council, the hard work of our staff and the dedication of our volunteers.

In 2008, in Nashua Valley Council:

  • Membership increased for the first time in several years
  • The percentage of total youth served increased
  • Membership retention improved
  • Percentage of Cub Scout and Boy Scout advancement increased
  • More volunteers were recruited to our district committees
  • Several new Venturing Crews were chartered
  • The percentage of Scouts attending summer camp increased

Nashua Valley Council is serving more young people and recruiting more support from the community, while still offering the best in summer camp experiences and wildly successful programs like Webelos Woods and Merit Badge College. We are continuing to invest in our properties and to maintain a full staff to support our units.

2009 will be a year full of challenges. With your support we will meet those challenges. We will "Do our best." We will be thrifty. We will continue to provide our young people with the timeless values, positive role models and leadership experiences that make Scouting as important today as it was a hundred years ago.

If you have not made a pledge of support for 2009, please pledge now. Even the smallest contributions will help us reach our goal and ensure another successful year for Nashua Valley Council.
